On Friday, Trafalgar students participated in Orange Shirt Day to acknowledge the harm that Canada’s residential school system has left in generations of indigenous families and their communities.
Leading up to a school-wide assembly, we had an honest and fruitful discussion (en anglais) about why « every child matters » and brainstormed ways to make everyone feel like he or she belongs (en français).
What a lovely bunch of young people–leading the way with love, respect, and making sure everyone feels a sense of belonging. I am feeling grateful and proud of these future leaders. (Missing: Bella Donaldson, Tyson Hutt).
